At Sioux Lodge you can host training or retreats, or take a vacation in a peaceful outdoor setting that gives you abundant opportunities to enjoy nature. The tranquil natural setting is ideal for fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, peaceful reading, study, yoga, classes, and swimming. In the winter, this is a beautiful place to enjoy snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, northern lights and the soft, quiet of the snow-covered landscape. This is a small resort (4 cabins and two bunkies) so it won't be over-run with people and you can even rent the entire resort if you have a larger group or want to the place to yourselves.
Sioux Lodge is unique due to its setting away from houses and other resorts and it has an eco-friendly focus that allows the focus to be on nature instead of electronics and modernity. There is no plumbing and if you require electricity (which is provided by generator to certain cabins), you should let us know when booking.
This area is world-renouned for excellent fishing.
There is an immense string of lakes where you can catch Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass and Muskie. It is a pristine gem where fish and birds and wildlife abound.
A peaceful beach on Abram Lake is ideal for swimming.
Sioux Lodge was originally established in the 1940s in a prime location on Abram Lake. We became the happy new owners in 2021 and since then we have lovingly completed extensive renovations and built new buildings. Now we are ready to welcome you to this slice of paradise!
Just a short kayak or canoe ride from the lodge (or a walk, if water levels aren't too high), a peaceful trail winds through the forest, leading to a quiet shoreline on Troutfish Bay on Minnitaki Lake. Take along a drink or a picnic and enjoy the tranquility, breathe in the pure clean air, take photos, go for a swim, or just enjoy the solitude. The extra-adventurous could portage there to canoe or kayak further afield.
We have all new luxury mattresses in each of the cabins and bunkies and have taken care to renovate and rebuild with care. The new cabins have been built to a higher standard than a most homes and are made with premium materials including Rockwool insulation, premium shingles, and locally milled tongue and groove pine.
Each of the cabins is situated along the waterfront with a direct view of the lake (except the Pine Marten which is tucked back next to the forest).
Whether you bring your own watercraft or rent a canoe or kayaks from us, there is a vast network of pristine, quiet, lakes to explore. You can't image the smell of the forests, the lapping of the water, the sunshine and gentle breeze, with eagles soaring and loons swimming without experiencing it in person. It really is magical.
